I Am Who I Am, a nice hodgepodge of class and sass. And while I like to say my family and friends keep me balanced, the truth is we are all so different and it can make for some very colorful and adventurous teeter-tottering moments.
There is a quote which says, “Don’t let your past define your future.” I can’t stand this quote because clearly, whoever wrote it, never had anything truly scar them for life. MY past has defined my future, without it I would not be Who I Am today and What I am today and Where I will be in the future. Talking about it is hard but those who are in my circle of trust understand, maybe one day I will tell the world that story.
Growing up, I found my true self in ballet and knew it was going to carry me through life far. And while recently retired from teaching, I followed my dream of becoming a dancer. I went to Radford University and double majored in Dance and Speech Pathology, continued on to perform with Walt Disney World and the Alexandria Ballet and ultimately ended up teaching ballet to so many incredible young ladies.
In our final semesters, at Radford University I met my handsome husband Chris. And through this crazy ride called life, we were blessed with two incredible children, Kylie and Christian. We have hit bumpy roads but my past has taught me to keep moving forward and conquering the difficult times. Chris is an amazing father and hard-working husband, who believes in his family and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kylie is my quiet, creative and big-hearted teen who is going to go far but she doesn’t know it yet. Christian is a talented Lego creator with a passion for history and baseball. He will tell you he hates school but I don’t think he realizes how incredibly smart he is.
My best friends are like my family and I would do anything for them and them for me. Friendship is very important to me, these women inspire me to continue to follow my dreams.
And yes, I still have dreams, we all do. Just recently, I was thrilled to become a part of the Disney Parks Moms Panel ,in 2014 and 2015. Walt Disney World will always hold a special place in my heart. Being there takes me to a place of hopes and dreams and so many of us need to remember what that feels like. To be a former Cast Member and then a Panelist I can’t wait to see how Disney comes back into in my life because it will always be a part of me. And it opened up a passion for writing and introduced me to this new world called blogging.
Because of my Disney Parks Moms Panel family and new-found blogger friends, Practically Classy is slowly taking form. My future also, has a new path and new opportunities and no matter your age, it is never to late to follow your dreams. I find myself to be a quirky writer and want the world to see me in my blog, whether its through writing about the latest recipe I tried, visiting one of the many wineries in the Northern VA area, where my latest girl trip is taking me or more importantly INSPIRING women to take the leap and go for their dreams. So come along and enjoy this journey because one thing is for sure, My Past Has Defined My Future.
